Mary's Story
Life
Grew up in the Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago. Went to St. Augustine's for 8 years and had a great childhood with my 9 brothers & 2 sisters. In '72, our father passed away and we moved to Batavia Highlands and I became a hippie. Went to Geneva High for 4 years & have a lot of wonderful memories of great friends...great parties...great concerts. Lost contact with everyone when I moved back to Chicago after graduation in '76. Met my husband in '79 & got married in '84. Had my only daughter in '88, got divorced in '91, and have been raising her on my own ever since. I got lucky though. She's a great kid, now a sophomore at ISU, majoring in social work. I'm very proud of her.
Been seeing someone for some years now, but he's now off in Iraq, fighting this crazy war (don't get me start...Expand for more
ed). He's a great guy, who I hope to grow old with.
Have always worked to support my daughter, and started in the advertising business in 1980, where I worked as an advertising sales assistant at different magazines in downtown Chicago for 25 years. Currently working at The Wall Street Journal.
Have a pretty quiet life; work, home, sleep...work, home, sleep. Just like everyone else. Of course my daughter has pretty much been my sole existence for the past 20 years, but most of my family live in & around the Chicago area and we are very close, with all of our kids and now grandkids growing up together. It's pretty wonderful. I've never been able to own a home or have much, but I'm a very lucky person and thank God every day for my blessings.
It would be great to hook up with old friends again. Peace
